Level 2 Certificate in Retail Skills

The level 2 qualification is for candidates who have some knowledge and basic skills in the retail industry – probably from a role where they work under supervision. The qualifications are for candidates who want to increase their skills and take on more responsibility.

This qualification allows candidates to further learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the retail industry.

Work Effectively in a Retail Team (Unit 247)

  • understand the purpose of checking stock levels in a retail environment
  • be able to check stock levels in a retail environment as instructed
  • be able to deal with or report stock-related problems that arise when checking stock levels in a retail environment

Receive Goods and Materials into Storage in a Retail Environment (Unit 201)

  • understand the importance of preparing for expected deliveries
  • understand own responsibility for handling goods and materials
  • be able to prepare to receive deliveries in a retail environment
  • be able to receive deliveries into storage in a retail environment

Deal with Customer Queries and Complaints in a Retail Environment (Unit 219)

  • understand how resolving customer queries and complaints contributes to customer loyalty and confidence
  • understand how to manage angry customers when dealing with customer queries and complaints in a retail environment
  • be able to deal with customers’ queries in a retail environment
  • be able to deal with customers’ complaints in a retail environment

Produce Staffing Schedules to Help a Retail Team to Achieve its Target (Unit 320)

  • understand the uses of and constraints upon the staffing schedules for a retail team
  • be able to produce staffing schedules for a retail team
  • be able to adjust staffing schedules to take account of changing operational needs and constraints

Load orders for dispatch from a retail store to customers (Unit 105)

  • know why it is important to work safely in the loading area
  • know how own working practices contribute to an efficient delivery service
  • be able to keep loading facilities and equipment in a usable condition
  • be able to ensure that orders are ready for loading
  • be able to load orders into delivery vehicles
